25 | On 9/17/2021 at 1:15pm, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Melissa Stewart conducted an unannounced, Required- 1 year inspection and met with Designated Facility Representative, Megan Johnson who reported that Director, Kelsey Sullivan was picking up kindergarteners from school. LPA conducted a Risk Assessment for COVID19 and all answers indicated no exposure to COVID19. The preschool operates, Monday - Friday, 7:45am - 4:30pm. All required forms, including monthly menu, are posted in the reception area of the preschool. The center was toured inside and outside. Staff wore face coverings. There were three (3) staff supervising 24 children laying on mats in the preschool room. The TV was on and some children were sleeping while others were resting quietly. The classroom was observed to be clean, organized and free of toxins. LPA observed indoor activity centers containing books, puzzles, manipulatives, blocks, arts and crafts and dramatic play materials. Director stated that children are encouraged to wear face coverings while indoors and has face coverings available for children at the entry area near the cubbies for children's belongings.
The center conducts monthly emergency and disaster drills. The most recent drill was held on 8/30/21. The first aid kit is stored in the children's restroom which was observed to be clean and sanitary. LPA observed the combination smoke and carbon monoxide detector mounted in the preschool room at 1:17pm. The detector was not tested at this time due to the children resting. Drinking water is available both inside and outside via individual water bottles brought from home or disposable cups. Director reported that there are no firearms, ammunition or bodies of water on the premises. No detergents, cleaning compounds, medications and other items such as kitchen knives which could pose a danger to children were observed to be accessible to children.
The outdoor activity area was inspected. Equipment was in safe condition free of sharp loose or pointed parts. LPA observed age appropriate riding toys, child sized tables located under a covered patio, outdoor hand washing sink, sandbox, and artificial grass area with tunnel. Continued on 809-C |
