25 | On 10/8/24, at 11:30 AM, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Shane Loftus & Elvin Baddley conducted an unannounced Annual/Random inspection of the abovementioned Child Care Center (CCC). LPAs met with Kelsey Sullivan, Director of the CCC. LPAs explained the purpose and nature of the inspection. The preschool operates Monday – Friday 7:45 AM – 4:30 PM. The CCC has 2 classrooms, 2 bathrooms, and 2 outdoor play areas which are separated by a gate. At the time of inspection, LPAs observed 39 children on site, along with 4 teachers. The CCC's Director is assisting with the care and supervision of children on site.
LPAs observed required licensing forms and documents posted in the main hallway of the CCC. The facility uses the Bright Wheel Application to sign children in/out of the CCC. LPA reviewed CCC Sign In/Out information and notes all information to be completed appropriately, having the authorized parent's electronic signature as well as entry and exit times. The CCC last conducted a fire drill on 9/11/24. The classrooms of the CCC are clean and orderly. The classrooms have age-appropriate equipment and furnishings available to children in care. The CCC's carbon monoxide detector was tested at 12:00 PM and found to be functional.
The CCC uses two restrooms, both are in sanitary operating condition. The CCC children are monitored by staff when using the restrooms. A morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snacks are provided by the children’s parents. The CCC provides occasional snacks such as granola bars if needed. CCC children bring bottled water from home. The CCC provides bottled drinking water for children at the CCC when needed. At 12:30 PM, LPAs were informed the CCC has not had its water sources tested lead contamination. LPAs reminded Director of the obligation to have the CCC's water sources tested for lead contaminates.
CCCs constructed before 1/1/20, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before 1/1/23, and then every 5-years except after the date of the first test. For child care center licenses issued after 7/1/22, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1-CCP).
