32 | Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test. For child care center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1-CCP). LPA verified that the lead testing was completed in accordance to the Written Directives outlined in PIN 21-21.1-CCP.
The outdoor play area is completely enclosed by wrought iron fencing and has varied footing. LPA observed play structures in the outdoor play area to be age appropriate and free of hazards and sharp points. The fall zones around the play structures have appropriate cushioning in the form of rubber matting. LPA observed ample shade in the outdoor play area which is provided by trees and shade sails. LPA notes the CCC has a Waiver from the Department for the staggered use of the outdoor playground area. LPA observed no bodies of water on site. Administrator was reminded to replace toys and play equipment which is degraded or is not in good repair.
The CCC electronically signs children in and out of the CCC. LPA reviewed the Sign In/Out system printouts which contain the arrival and departure times of children as well as electronic signatures of authorized representatives.
A sampling of staff and children's records were reviewed. The children’s records were complete and found to contain emergency contact information as well as immunization records. Staff records were reviewed and are current with Pediatric First Aid/CPR (EMSA Approved) and Mandated Reporter Training certifications, as well as documentation supporting qualifications and experience.
