25 | On October 1, 2024 at approximately 1:00pm, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Melissa Zaragoza and Catrina Quimbo, conducted an unannounced, annual inspection. On 10/18/24 LPAs returned to conducted an annual continuation visit. LPAs met with the director, Christine Herndon, and explained the purpose of the visit.
Skyline College CDC is a combination facility of infant children and preschool children. Infant program and preschool program are located in the same building. Preschool program operates in one classroom, room 14-03. The preschool program currently has 16 children enrolled. Preschool classroom has a bathroom in the classroom.
Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday- Thursday, and 8:00am to 12:30pm on Friday’s. Present during LPA's visit was the director, 0 infant children, 9 preschool age children, and 4 teachers. There are 4 teachers in the preschool classroom. Preschool program is operating within capacity limits and ratio during LPAs' visit.
LPAs inspected facility, indoors and outdoors, for health and safety hazards. Classroom includes a variety of toys and materials that were in good condition. LPAs observed classrooms to have age-appropriate furniture, equipment, and materials. LPAs observed cleaning materials to be stored in high shelves, inaccessible to children in care.
Per director, children sleep in mats in the classroom. Per director, parents provide sheets. Sheets are clean and maintained by handing them to parents, weekly, for wash. Per director, mats are maintained clean, by sanitizing them daily after being used.
Each classroom is equipped with a fully charged fire extinguisher, first aid kit, and smoke detectors. Per director, there are carbon monoxide detectors installed in high ceilings in each classroom. LPAs could not test carbon monoxide detectors during the inspection because due to the high ceilings. Per director, smoke alarm is connected with the entire facility, and could not be tested during visit. Storage for children's belongings is in classrooms. Children's cubbies are labeled with children's individual names.
