25 | On January 13, 2024, at approximately 1:00 PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Melissa Zaragoza conducted an unannounced, annual inspection. LPA met with the director, Maureen Monte, and explained the purpose of the visit.
Montessori Childrens House-Tulane Road is a preschool age childcare center program. Childcare center is a facility with 2 classrooms. Per director, children enrolled are children ages 3-4 years olds. There are three groups of children enrolled. One group is the AM group, which is from 8:30am to 11:30am, and the PM group, which is from 12:30pm to 3:30pm, and the all-day group, which is from 8:30am to 3:30pm.
Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8:30am to 3:30pm. Present during LPA's visit was the director, 33 preschool age children and 9 teachers. Preschool program is operating within capacity limits and ratio during LPA's visit.
LPA inspected facility, indoors and outdoors, for health and safety hazards. Classroom includes a variety of toys and materials that were in good condition. LPA observed classroom to have age-appropriate furniture, equipment, and materials. LPA observed cleaning materials to be stored in high shelves, inaccessible to children in care.
Per director, children have rest time, and children sleep in mats. Per director, sleeping mats are wiped down and cleaned whenever they are used. LPA did not observe any accessible poisons or chemicals in classroom.
Facility is equipped with a fully charged fire extinguisher and first aid kits. LPA observed Carbon monoxide detector and smoke detector. Smoke and carbon monoxide detector were tested during visit and were observed to be working. LPA observed the cubby’s room. The cubby’s room is a classroom for storage, for children's belongings. Children's cubbies are labeled with children's individual names on it.
