25 | On October 1, 2024 at approximately 1:00pm, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Melissa Zaragoza and Catrina Quimbo, conducted an unannounced, annual inspection. LPAs met with the director, Christine Herndon, and explained the purpose of the visit.
Skyline College CDC is a combination facility of infant children and preschool children. Infant program and preschool program are located in the same building. Infant program is licensed for one classroom, room 1. The infant program does not currently have any children enrolled. Per director, they have not had any infant children for more than a year now. There is a restroom in the infant class.
Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday- Thursday, and 8:00am to 12:30pm on Fridays. Present during LPA's visit was the director, 0 infant children, 16 preschool age children, and 4 teaching staff. Preschool program is operating within capacity limits and ratio during LPAs' visit. There are currently no teachers in the infant classroom. Infant classroom is not operating.
LPAs inspected entire facility, indoors and outdoors, for health and safety hazards. Classroom includes a variety of toys and materials that were in good condition. LPAs observed classrooms to have age-appropriate furniture, equipment, and materials. LPA observed cleaning materials to be stored in high shelves, inaccessible to children in care.
Per director, infant children would sleep in the classroom, and sleep in cribs. LPAs observed cribs to be empty and free of any loose articles. Per lead teacher, when infant program was operating, parents would provide sheets, formula, and 15-minute sleep log were maintained. Per director, sheets are clean and maintained by handing them to parents, weekly, for wash.
Each classroom in facility is equipped with a fully charged fire extinguisher, first aid kit, and smoke detectors. Per director, there are carbon monoxide detectors installed in high ceilings in each classroom. LPAs could not test carbon monoxide detectors during the inspection due to the high ceilings. Storage for children's belongings is in classrooms. Children's cubbies are labeled with children's individual names.
