25 | On July 31st, 2025, at 2pm, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Tapia-Mandujano conducted an announced Case Management-Licensee initiated. LPA conducted the inspection with Assistant Director, Jeannine Solis. Redwood City Fire Inspector, Miguel Villanueva joined during the inspection. LPA explained the purpose of the inspection. Purpose of the inspection was to inspect the planter boxes that were installed to limit access for the elementary school children to come into the preschool yard off of Room C and preschool children to exit the preschool yard to the elementary school hallway.
Present in the facility were 4 staff supervising 24 preschool age children. All adults present are fingerprint cleared through the San Carlos School District. LPA conducted a health and safety inspection.
During the inspection, LPA, Fire inspector, and assistant director inspected the outdoor area where the planter boxes were installed and discussed possibilities of another gate becoming the emergency exit. Per conversation, both Fire inspector and LPA agreed to approve the planter boxes as is but making them secure to each other as temporary solution. LPA advised Assistant Director to additionally add cones and place them in front of the opening as a visual barrier for children not to go pass the cones.
During inspection, LPA also observed that the following was corrected: Drainage was covered, Draining tube was tucked away and secured, area where the drainage tube was filled and leveled, Cracked areas on cement were covered with a carpet and cushioned mats.
Pending physical plant items to be corrected: planter boxes to be filled in and secured to each other to become more sturdy and open area by the sandbox to be also installed and secured to the fence.
Based on today's inspection, no deficiencies were observed, according to California Title 22, Health and Safety Code of Regulations.
A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
