On August 7th, 2023 at 11am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Tapia-Mandujano arrived at the facility. LPA conducted an announced case management inspection for an addition to add K4 into the license without a capacity change. LPA met with Director, Chana Stewart. Present in the facility is Director, the facility is currently closed for the Summer. First day of school is August 24th, 2023. Fire clearance to add K4 was approved on August 1st, 2023 by Menlo Park Fire Department.

Facility is located on Oak Knoll Elementary School. Facility is licensed for 48 children in rooms K2, K4, K5, 29 and 30. Per Director, Chana this school year facility will be operating in rooms K4 and K5. Prior to use of any of the other rooms, director was made aware that rooms must be inspected for health and safety hazards. LPA measured K4 to be 843.23sqft allowing for 24 children in the classroom.

LPA inspected K4 for health and safety hazard. LPA observed that there is a working smoke detector,carbon monoxide detector, and fire extinguishers available in the classroom. All of the cleaning solutions, poisons, and other chemicals that are dangerous to the children are stored inaccessible to the children. Room has age appropriate furniture. Furniture is steady and in good repair. Floor appears to be in good repair and free of any hazards. There is one sink in the classroom for children's use.
Facility is requesting to update their existing bathroom waiver. Facility currently has a restroom waiver approved to use Elementary School Restroom by K2 which consists of 3 toilets and 2 sinks. Facility is requesting to also approve restroom located outside of K5 that consists of 3 toilets and 2 sinks.

LPA will approve the use of K4 pending the approval of the restroom waiver that was requested.

No deficiencies were cited today. Exit interview and report was discussed with Director, Chana Stewart.
