25 | On November 8th, 2023 at approximately 8:50AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Tapia-Mandujano conducted an Annual unannounced inspection and case management to add a new room to the facility. LPA met with licensee, Angelica Sorto. Purpose of the inspection was explained. Present in the home is licensee and her assistant supervising 8 children (2 infants and 6 preschool age). Licensee is operating within capacity limits on this day. All adults living and working in the home are fingerprint cleared and associated.
Licensee owns home, which is a three bedroom, three bathroom, single level house. Hours of Operation are Monday-Friday from 7am-6pm. Licensee has requested to add her converted garage. Menlo Park Fire Department has approved the new area as of November 7th, 2023. Converted Garage is conditioned with age appropriate toys and material. There is a fire extinguisher inside with an electric smoke detector/carbon monoxide alarm. LPA will approve the addition of the converted garage as of today.
New Daycare area are: Converted Garage with bathroom, Dining area, Master Bedroom #3, back porch area, and Backyard. OFF limit areas: Kitchen, Living room, Bedroom #1, Bedroom #2, Bathroom #1, Bathroom #2 (inside Master Bedroom), all closets, including the laundry room inside the converted garage, and Storage in the backyard. All off limit areas are properly barricaded.
LPA toured day care areas of home with Licensee to inspect for health and safety hazards. LPA observed home to be clean and in good repair with proper temperature and ventilation. There were a variety of age appropriate toys and equipment in the home which were in good condition. Home has a fireplace that are properly barricaded in the Living Room. There are no pools, and bodies of water in the premises. All cleaning supplies, poisons and other chemicals were stored inaccessible to children. Discipline Policy was discussed.
There was a fully charged fire extinguisher, smoke alarm and carbon monoxide alarm, and a working telephone on site. Phone number listed for Licensee is current. Per Licensee, there are no weapons or firearms in the home. LPA reviewed five children's' record. LPA also reviewed facility and employee records. Licensees CPR & First Aid Certificate expires on 07/2024. Licensee's mandated reporter training will expire on 03/2024. Last Emergency Drill was conducted 10/2023. Emergency drills must be conducted at least once every six months and should be properly logged.
