25 | On October 20, 2023, at approx.8:35 AM Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Maria Olguin-Leon met with Director Ting Shen and Yun Li for an unannounced annual inspection. Purpose of visit was explained. Present today was Director, Assistant Director, 7 staff and 30 Children (11 toddlers and 19 preschoolers). Facility is operating within capacity and in compliance with staff/child ratio. All staff have fingerprint clearances. Facility operates a toddler/preschool program from Monday to Friday 8:30AM to 5:30PM.
LPA and Director toured the facility for health and safety hazards. Facility has a toddler classroom, preschool room, and pre-k classroom. Classrooms are clean with proper temperature and ventilation. There are plenty of age-appropriate toys, furnishings, books, and learning materials all in good repair. Storage Cubbies are available for children to store personal items, diapers, and belongings. Toddler classroom is equipped with a changing table for diapering children. LPA reminded Director to clean changing mat after each diaper change or use disposable paper sheets. There are two restrooms for children to use, one restroom has one toilet and one sink, 2nd restroom has two toilet and two sinks, all in working condition. Restroom are located in between toddler and pre-k classroom. There is a separate restroom in facility for staff use. All trash containers in classrooms have tight fitted lids. All cleaning products, chemicals and toxins are stored and locked in cabinet and inaccessible to children. Facility has plenty of sleeping cots available for napping; parents provide sheets and are washed weekly or as needed.
Outdoor playground is shared, and outdoor waiver is posted. A schedule for classroom outside time was reviewed by LPA. Playground has a several age-appropriate play toys, play kitchen, and ride on toys all in good repair. Playground is flooring is cement and rubber foam and artificial grass to help cushion falls. Yard is surrounded with a 5 ft. fence. There is a garden area locate behind the facility used for gardening and other activities. There are no pools, spas, or other bodies of water. Per Director, there are no weapons or firearms on the premises.
Children bring their own meals from home and stored in cubbies. Facility provides milk and has extra snacks available for children. Kitchen area is in hallway, between toddler and pre-k classroom. LPA observed kitchenette to be clean and food and milk to be stored properly to prevent contamination. Labeled water bottles with children’s names are brought from home for use indoors and outdoors. Facility refills water bottles with filtered water. First aid kit is fully stocked with medical supplies. Incidental Medical Services were discussed. Sick children are isolated in office away from other children.
