25 | On July 14, 2023 at approximately 11:00am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Catrina Quimbo conducted an unannounced, annual inspection. LPA met with teacher, T1, and explained the purpose of the inspection. During LPA's visit, director was not present. Per T1, director was out sick during LPA's visit.
Present during LPA's visit included 2 teaching staff and 7 enrolled preschool age children. Facility is operating within teacher to child ratio during LPA's visit. Teaching staff present have criminal record clearance. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8:30am to 5:30pm. Program operates as a Japanese immersion program.
LPA inspected the facility, indoors and outdoors, for health and safety hazards. Facility includes 2 classrooms, a multi-purpose area, and an outdoor area. LPA observed classrooms to be clean, equipped with age appropriate toys and materials. Storage for children's belongings are located near front entrance of center. Children's cubbies are labeled with their individual names.
LPA observed facility to have an installation of a fire alarm system throughout the building, as well as multiple fully charged fire extinguishers. LPA spoke with regional manager, Mako Garcia, through a phone. Per regional manager, fire alarm system is a dual smoke/carbon monoxide detector system.
LPA observed poisons, cleaning solutions and hazardous materials are stored inaccessible to children, in facility's high shelves or off limit area. Facility currently provides a food service that includes morning and afternoon snacks only. Lunch is provided by children's families. There is a kitchen area that is made inaccessible to children with child safety gates. There is an additional snack prep area in the classroom that was observed to be clean and neat. LPA did not observe any poisons or chemicals to be stored near snack prep area. Water is available to children indoors and outdoors with children's water bottles that can be refilled at the facility. Per phone conversation with regional manager, required lead water testing has not been completed for facility, but is scheduled for 07/21/2023.
