Indoors: Tentatively, there will be 4 spaces that may be used for the preschool program: classroom #1 (that may be used as a multiple purpose room or a classroom), classroom #2 (auditorium), classroom #3 (additional classroom in auditorium), and classroom #4 (4-5 year old classroom). LPA measured the 4 classroom spaces.
Classroom #1 was measured for 1,091.05 sq. ft. allowing for a capacity of 31 children. Classroom #2 was measured for 3,265.63 sq. ft allowing for a capacity of 93 children.
Classroom #3 was measured for 388.88 sq. ft. allowing for a capacity of 11 children.
Classroom #4 was measured for 863.23 sq ft. allowing for a capacity of 24 children. Total indoor square footage that may be utilized for indoor capacity equals 5,608.81 sq. ft allowing for a total capacity of 160 preschool children.
In the auditorium, there is a kitchen and an additional classroom that may be used as storage and/or a multi-purpose space. LPA did not measure kitchen nor storage/multi-purpose space for overall capacity.
LPA observed classrooms to be clean, appropriately ventilated. Some of the classrooms were equipped with toys and materials while other classrooms were not yet equipped. Per applicant and director, program is in process of moving additional furniture, toys and materials to facility. Toys and materials that were present during LPA's visit were observed to be age appropriate and in good working condition. Storage space for children's personal belongings will be cubbies that will be kept inside the classrooms.
Tentatively, there is one bathroom that will be utilized for preschool children that includes 6 toilets and 6 sinks. Total allowable capacity for toilets and sinks is 90 children. There are additional bathrooms on site that director and applicant will determine will be for staff and/or children's use. Applicant and director are aware staff bathrooms are not to be counted towards children's toilet and sink ratio.
Program plans to provide napping preschool children with cots. Children's families are to provide sheets and blankets. Per director, sheets and blankets will be sent home weekly or as needed. Cots are sanitized weekly or as needed.
Designated isolation area will be located in facility's office. Program plans to provide breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack. Food service will be prepared in facility kitchen, located in auditorium. Director was reminded poisons and cleaning solutions must not be stored with food. Director was also reminded children who bring their own meals are to label children's individual containers with their names.
