25 | On 12/10/2024, at 1:21 PM, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Joaquin Mendez and Fernando Hernandez conducted an unannounced Required 3year Annual Inspection of the Paz Family Childcare Home. LPA met with Joel Paz Jr, Licensee. The purpose of the visit was discussed with the Licensee and together we toured the inside and outside of the home. LPAs observed ten (10) children in care at the time of the inspection with one (1) assistant (S1).
The home is a four (4) bedroom and three (3) bathroom home. The main day care areas are the front bedroom (1), living room (furnished into daycare), hallway bathroom, kitchen, dining room, and backyard play area. LPAs observed the off-limits areas which include the three (3) bedrooms and two (2) bathrooms and are made inaccessible to children in care by way of a gate in the hall leading to the back of the home.
LPAs inspected the kitchen in its entirety and did not find anything toxic or hazardous accessible to children.
· Knives were stored in an elevated cabinet inaccessible to children.
· LPAs observed the cleaning supplies and chemicals in a locked elevated cabinet in the kitchen, inaccessible.
· LPAs observed a fireplace which was locked and inaccessible to daycare children.
LPAs explained the safety and security of the children must always be ensured while children are in care.
· LPAs observed the day care area to be clean and orderly.
· LPAs observed age-appropriate books, toy, games, tables, and chairs. LPAs reminded licensee to replace toys and furniture as needed when the quality of play structures is harmful to children in care.
· LPAs note that at 2:10PM, LPAs observed two (2) walkers that are not permitted in the closet and inaccessible during the inspection in the first bedroom. Licensee stated they would donate the items and did not know the items were not permitted. LPAs supplied a list of items not permitted for future reference to the
