On December 13, 2023, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Gigi Reyes and German Negrete conducted an unannounced Required- 3 Year inspection. LPA met with Program Manager, Tania Pacheco and Site Supervisor Tasha Ricketson, and discussed the purpose and scope of the inspection.

Site Supervisor provided LPAs a tour of the interior and exterior of the Child Care Center (CCC) There were 24 preschool children under the care of 3 staff members excluding the Site Supervisor. The Pre school program uses two (2) classrooms, room no. 5- Bunnies and room no. 6.- Turtles and Robin.

LPA observed required licensing documents are mounted in a prominent location. Last fire drill was conducted on July 2023. Each classroom has age-appropriate toys and furniture readily accessible for children in care. LPA observed enough restrooms available for children which are free of toxins. Play yard is enclosed with 6 ft wire fence, its surface is hazard free with ample shades for day care children's comfort. LPA observed the playground has age-appropriate toys and structures available for children to use. No bodies of water were observed on the premises. CCC uses an Application platform, Bright Wheel for check-in/check-out. CCC provides morning and afternoon snacks.

Sign in/out sheets were reviewed and found complete. A sampling of children and staff records were reviewed. LPA observed children's files to be complete and current. Pediatric and Firs aid CPR expires on March 2024. Staff members have mandated reporter certification are all current. LPA verified Child Care Adult Immunization and Tuberculosis requirements.

Site Supervisor was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all license Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010 to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023 and then every 5-years after the date of the first test.

For CCC licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the license shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Writen Directive section 101700 (PIN21-21-1 CCP)

LPA Verified that lead testing was completed in accordance to the Written Directives outlined in PIN 21-21.1-CCP

LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with site supervisor and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA verified safe sleep logs are being documented every 15 minutes for infants under 24 months. LPA also informed site supervisor of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.
