On August 16, 2023 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Susana Martinez conducted an unannounced case management-licensee initiated inspection. LPA met with site director Brittney Grimshaw and advised her of the purpose for the inspection. Together with the site director, LPA toured the facility inside and outside. At the time of inspection there were no children in care. No bodies of water were observed at the time of inspection.
The center submitted an application to add a toddler component to the infant license. The Carpinteria-Summerland Fire Department granted a fire clearance on 7/17/2023.
The toddler room was observed to have sufficient age-appropriate toys and learning material. No hazards/toxins were observed to be accessible to the children in care. The toddlers will have access to 1 sink and 1 toilet in the room.
The Toddler outdoor space has sufficient shade and ample amount of space. The center will be installing a fence in the coming days and will need to utilize the infant outdoor play yard until the toddler yard is complete. The center submitted a waiver request to allow the toddlers to temporarily use the infant outdoor playground. The waiver was granted with the following requirements:
- Infant Group uses the outdoor space from 9:10 AM- 10:10 AM and 12:10 PM- 3 PM
- Toddler Group uses the outdoor space from 8 AM- 9 AM, 11 AM- 12 PM, and from 3:10 PM- 4 PM
- Appropriate teacher-child ratio shall be maintained at all times.
- Any changes in the existing condition must be reported to the licensing agency immediately at (805) 562-0400.
If the conditions established for the waiver are not followed, the waiver will no longer be valid. A copy of the waiver must be available for review at the facility.
