25 | On April 17, 2024 at 9:05 AM, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Susana Martinez and Julia Meli conducted an announced pre-licensing inspection. LPAs met with applicant Jaqueline Salas and discussed the purpose of the inspection. LPAs along with applicant toured the interior and exterior of the home. The home is a one story with 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, a living room, dining area, kitchen, and backyard.
All adults in the home are fingerprint cleared. Applicant was reminded that all adults 18 and over living in the home, persons who provide care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5-days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30-days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
During this tour, the applicant showed the areas that will be accessible for children, which were two bedrooms, one bathroom, the living room, dining area, kitchen, and front yard. Family members residing in the home are 4 adults: the applicant, husband, and 2 adult children. Per Applicant, the operating hours will be Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM - 7:00 PM. Applicant states she wants to care for children from 0 - 12 years old. The home was inspected for safety, comfort, cleanliness, telephone service, heating and ventilation, inaccessibility to poisons, detergents, cleaning compounds, medicines, and hazardous items that can pose a danger to children. There are no bodies of water observed.
LPAs observed a regulation 2A10BC fire extinguisher in the FCCH at the time of the inspection that was purchased on 02/05/2024. Licensee is reminded to service or purchase the fire extinguisher yearly. LPAs observed applicant test a combination smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in the home at 9:15 AM and were functioning at the time of the inspection. Applicant stated there are guns/ammunition in the home. LPAs observed the gun to be safely locked and advised Applicant that ammunition needs to be locked and stored separately from the gun. Applicant states a safe to store the ammunition is on it's way.
