25 | On 1/26/2023: Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Pietro Hernandez conducted an unannounced Required 1 Year Annual inspection of Challenger School-Saratoga. The program has 5 rooms currently being used: rooms are identified as 1 through 5 respectively. LPA met with Program Director Denise Reid, and explained the purpose of today's visit. Facility’s License, Emergency Disaster Plan, menus, Parents’ Rights Poster PUB393, Personal Rights, and Activity Schedules, were observed to be posted. Facility's operating days and hours are Monday through Friday 7:30am to 5:30pm.
Room 1: 2 Teachers and 16 Preschool Children
Room 2: 1 Teachers and 6 Preschool Children
Room 3: 2 Teachers and 22 Preschool Children
Room 4 2 Teachers and 18 Preschool Children
Room 5 3 Teachers and 17 Preschool Children
Facility was in compliance with teacher to children ratio requirement. Children were engaged in various activities under the visual supervision of the teachers and assistants.
The physical plant was inspected. LPA toured the building with the Director.
Indoor space: The classrooms, restrooms and office area were inspected. The Director was present during inspection the LPA did not observe disinfectants, cleaning solutions or chemicals that are dangerous to the health and safety of children. All other cabinets, drawers, and rooms used for storage were locked. Furniture and equipment were age appropriate and in good condition, free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts. Restrooms for children were observed to be in safe, sanitary, and functioning condition. Floors were clean and free from tripping hazard. Foods and beverages were stored safely. Food storage area were clean, free of litter, rubbish, and rodents/vermin. Trash cans for solid waste had tight-fitting covers on in rooms. Director stated that facility does not possess nor store any weapons on the premises. LPA observed a 3A40BC Fire extinguisher, working Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors, fire pull stations, and sprinkler system in each room. Log shows that the last Fire Drill was conducted on 12/15/22. Facility does not provide transportation for children, but Director understands that children cannot be left alone, unattended in parked vehicles. |
