25 | Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Pedro Solorio and Deanna Villagrana met with licensee assistant Maria Rodriguez for an annual/random visit. LPAs explained the nature of today’s inspection to her. Present were assistant, one day care children, three grandchildren including two infants, and adult granddaughter. Licensee was not present and went to drop off other grandchildren at school. Licensee arrived about 15 minutes later. Days and hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 6:00am to 6:00pm. The adults that reside in the home are licensee and granddaughter Samantha Cardenas.
A review of staff records on 01/30/2025 indicates that all Facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. Licensee Gloria Alvarez was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
LPAs toured the indoor and outdoor areas of the home during today’s inspection. LPAs observed that the home is clean and orderly, with heating and ventilation for safety and comfort of the children. LPAs observed two barricaded wall heathers in the home. LPAs observed safe and sufficient materials, toys, and play equipment for the day care children. LPAs observed a fully charged 3A40BC fire extinguisher, a working smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector. Licensee states there are no weapons/firearms in the home. Off limit areas indoor: master bedroom/bath, three bedrooms, one bathroom, second living room and attached sun room. Backyard is fenced. Off limits outdoor: entire backyard. Licensee uses front yard for outdoor play and understands children must supervised at all times. LPAs observed one dog in the home. Licensee states the dog belongs to her daughter and that she has two additional dogs that stay in the backyard. LPAs observed licensee has a current CPR and First Aid certification expiring on 09/14/2026 and assistants expires on 11/18/2025. Both licensee and assistant completed Mandated Reporter training on 11/06/2023. |
