32 | The Facility is clean, safe, sanitary, and in good repair. The Facility has adequate lighting and heating/air conditioning in all Rooms. There are no wall heaters or fireplace units in the Facility. Children bring their lunches from home and the facility only provides AM and PM snacks to the children. Disposable utensils and plates will be utilized by the Facility. LPAs observed solid waste containers with a tight-fitting lids in all Rooms and in the playground areas. Drinking water inside and outside will be provided through reusable water bottles and water dispensers.
LPAs observed enough chairs, tables, cubbies, mats, and hooks for all children at the facility. There is only cold running water in the children's sinks. LPAs advised Rehka to keep cleaning supplies inaccessible to children in higher cupboards or securely locked lower cupboards. There are no poisons on the premises. There are enough materials, toys, and supplies for the children in care. All equipment and furniture are safe and age appropriate.
There are sufficient toilets and sinks for the preschool children within the Facility. Staff have separate staff bathrooms on site (located in the main church building) that can be utilized by sick children if necessary. Rekha states that the Facility is considering adding a urinal to the boy's bathroom to allow the Facility to allocate a bathroom stall for "staff use" since the Facility is considering have the staff bathroom closer to the children's bathrooms. LPA's advised Rekha that the Department will need to be notified if the Facility elects to add a urinal to the boy's bathroom for a follow up inspection. Sick children will be isolated in the front office area of the Facility and isolation equipment is available. There is a fully charged fire extinguisher, smoke detectors, and carbon monoxide detectors. LPAs observed a complete first aid kit in each Room. Rehka states that there are no weapons/ammunition on the premises.
The preschool and toddler playground areas are adequately fenced. There is sufficient equipment, toys, and materials for the preschool and toddler children outdoors. LPAs discussed supervision requirements of the children whenever they are in the playground areas. Shaded rest areas are available throughout the playground via building overhangs, trees, and canopy. There were no bodies of water observed during today's inspection. Areas around the age appropriate & secure play structure and slide have resilient material (rubber surfacing and wood chips). Transportation will not be provided by the Facility. The Facility has a working telephone: 408-356-8816.
