25 | On October 6, 2023 at 9:10am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Julia Placencia arrived unannounced for a Required-1 Year inspection. LPA met with director Susan Xiao. There were 46 preschool age children and an additional 12 staff members present during the inspection. This program is part of a combination center which also includes a school age component. Classrooms currently being used and inspected today are Rooms 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, and 7. The facility was toured for a health and safety inspection. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 6:00pm.
Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, poisons and other items that are dangerous to children were inaccessible during the visit. The toilets and sinks were safe, sanitary and in operable condition. Furniture and equipment are in good condition, and floors are free of tripping hazards. The kitchen/food preparation and storage areas appear to be clean and free of evidence of rodents, and food is protected against contamination. All storage containers for solid waste have tight-fitting covers that are in good repair. Drinking water is available both indoors and outdoors by way of water bottles. Children bring their lunches from home, however, the center provides AM and PM snacks. Snack menus are posted and visible for parents to view. Medications are stored in each classroom and are inaccessible to children. There are no pools or similar bodies of water at this facility. Outdoor activity space and playground equipment observed to be safe and free of hazards. Climbing equipment is properly anchored to the ground with adequate and appropriate cushioning material to absorb falls. There is a shaded area provided for the children. A Fire/Disaster Drill was conducted today in LPA's presence, and a review of the disaster drill log shows drills are conducted at least every six months. Required licensing documents were posted. LPA observed fire extinguishers were serviced on 3/30/23, carbon monoxide detector was tested and observed to be functioning. Fire code inspection was completed on 2/9/23 with no violations.
