25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Farida Raja, met with Treasurer, James Anderson for an unannounced annual inspection and informed him of the purpose for today's inspection. Director, Julie Denholm arrived around 1:30pm. The facility is licensed to serve children ages 2-entry into first grade years in rooms 4 to 7. LPA observed the required posted materials including menus and daily activity schedule in Room 5. Days and hours of operation are Monday through Friday,7:00 am to 6:00 pm.
LPA, Treasurer and Director toured the indoor and outdoor areas and observed the following ratios:
Room 4 (2 year olds): combined for nap in Room 5
Room 5: (3 year olds): 17 children and 1 teacher
Room 6: Staff Room
Room 7 (4 year olds): 12 children and 1 teacher
Facility was in compliance with teacher to children ratio requirement. Classrooms, children's restrooms, staff restrooms and kitchen area were inspected. Children were napping under the visual supervision of teachers during today's inspection. LPA observed wall heaters that are gated and wall air conditioners in each classroom for comfort of children. Director states that there are no weapons or firearms on the premises. There is a working telephone at the facility (408-827-5814). Disinfectants, cleaning products and medicines were stored inaccessible to the children in care. All cabinets used for storage were observed to be child locked. Furniture and equipment were age appropriate and in good condition, free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts. LPA observed solid waste containers with tight-fitting lids in all classrooms. LPA observed appropriate changing tables that have raised sides (3 inches in height) and have vinyl changing pads that are at least 1 inch thick in Room 4. LPA observed a trash can with tight fitting cover for the disposal of diapers. Napping mats are appropriate. Restrooms and sinks for children were observed to be safe, sanitary, and in working condition.
