32 | The facility provides snacks for children in care, and monthly menus are posted on-site. LPA observed the areas containing refrigerators and found them to be clean and free of evidence of rodents. Infant food was individually labeled with each child’s name and the date it was prepared. Staff were reminded to discard any uneaten food after 72 hours. LPA also reminded the Director that all individuals involved in food preparation and service must adhere to proper personal hygiene and food sanitation practices to prevent contamination. All solid waste storage containers were observed to have tight-fitting covers and were in good repair.
LPA’s Observations During the Visit:
At approximately 1:30 PM, staff were preparing children for nap time. There were two staff members present in the room; one teacher was observed rocking a child, while the other staff member was placing one of three children into their individual cribs. All cribs were observed to be free of loose items, hanging objects, and blankets, in accordance with safe sleep practices.
The outdoor play area contains a variety of age-appropriate equipment, including balls, crawling tunnels, water stations, bikes, scooters, building blocks, climbing apparatus, sandboxes, and a play structure with a slide equipped with cushioning to absorb falls. There are multiple canopies and trees providing adequate shade for children during outdoor play. All equipment was observed to be in good repair. The outdoor play area is fully fenced and free of defects or hazardous conditions. Multiple storage sheds are present and secured with locks to prevent children’s access to equipment.
LPA inspected the staff bathrooms and was informed by the Director that they are separate from children’s restrooms. Changing tables in the infant rooms were observed to be within arm’s reach of a sink. The facility has adequate supplies, including soap and paper towels, readily available for children in care.
California Law requires Child Care Centers licensees to report unusual incidents or injuries to children in care to child's parents and to the Department of Social Services using the Unusual Incident/Injury form (LIC 624).
