32 | LPA observed a fully charged 2A40 BC fire extinguisher, functioning smoke detector, a carbon monoxide detector and a working telephone. Mara Melesky was advised to complete annual maintenance on the fire extinguisher. Licensee was informed that emergency disasters are to be conducted every six months and documented.
Mara Melesky was reminded that smoking is not allowed in the day care as well as baby walkers, bouncers, jumpers, or similar prohibited devices. Hazardous materials, including poisons, detergents, cleaning compounds, and medicines, were stored in locations inaccessible to children. Licensee stated that she does not have any weapons on the premises. Licensee was reminded that if she chooses to transport children, a valid driver’s license is required. Children cannot be left unattended in vehicles, car seats are for transportation only, and adequate booster seats and car seats must be available for safe transport.
Licensee submitted proof of completion in Health and Safety class including Nutrition and Lead Poisoning Prevention. Licensee's Mandated Reporter Training was completed on 10/2/2024. Licensee's immunizations in measles, pertussis, and flu are on file. Licensee's Pediatric CPR/First Aid certifications expire on 9/7/2026.
LPA discussed the requirements of Assembly Bill(AB) 633 with the Licensee. The Licensee understands the AB 633 fact sheet/copy of Acknowledgement of Receipt of Licensing Reports (LIC 9224). LPA discussed "zero tolerance" related regulations with the Licensee and advised her of the assessment of an immediate $500 civil penalty for any violation of a "zero tolerance" related regulation. An ongoing civil penalty of $100 per day continues until the violation(s) is corrected.
LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with Licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed Licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. LPA informed Licensee that infants ages is from 0 to 24 months, and infants up to 12 months of age must have a completed LIC9227 (INDIVIDUAL INFANT SLEEPING PLAN). Also, Licensee was informed that 15-minute checks are to be documented when infants are sleeping. LPA informed Licensee that sleep sacks or swaddling are not allowed.
