25 | On 05/10/2021 at 10:00 am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Manel Estoesta conducted an announced pre-licensing inspection. LPA met with the applicant, Rhythm Nijhawan. The applicant has submitted an application for a small family child care home license. The facility address is 2136 Mesa Drive, Milpitas CA 95035. Present on this visit were the applicant's spouse Kamal Nijhawan and the applicant's two (2) school age children. The home was virtually toured to conduct a health and safety inspection. Applicant stated that the hours of operation will be from Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.
The home is a single story home. The applicant owns the home since November 2020. Applicant provided Property Tax Bill dated 01/11/2021. The home is neat, clean with heating, ventilation for safety and comfort. The On-Limit areas are the Preschool room, the hallway bathroom and fenced backyard. LPA reminded applicant that other than wipes or things used for the children in the on limits children’s bathroom, they need to be empty of most all items (or locked up) cleaning products. The applicant understood. There are no accessible hazardous cleaning chemicals or other liquids in the on-limits area. The Off-Limit areas are the kitchen and dining room, two (2) bedroom, master bedroom and master bathroom, the living room, garage, front yard and the side yards which will be inaccessible to children in care by closed and or locked doors and or a fence with visual supervision.
LPA reminded the applicant that any structural changes to the home or additions to the child care facility must be reported to Community Care Licensing. The applicant understood.
Applicant has a first aid kit and plastic outlet covers on all electrical outlets in the on-limit areas. Applicant stated that there are no firearms in the home.
Applicant has ample age-appropriate toys and learning materials. The home has a fully charged 3A40BC fire extinguisher, combination smoke and carbon monoxide detectors (tested and functioning) and a working telephone.
