25 | On 09/12/24 at 1:50 PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Teodoro Trujillo met with licensee Erika Sotelo, for an annual inspection. Present with licensee were assistant, Gloria and adult daughter Cindy, with six children: five (5) preschool age, (1) one Infants. Adults living in the home are licensee, her spouse Javiel, adult daughter Cindy, son in law Ulises, and licensee mother, Carmen with two minor children: six and 13 year old grandchildren. Days and hours of operation are Monday through Friday 06:00 AM to 06:00 PM.
A listing of staff criminal record clearances associated to this facility in the CCL Licensing Information System (LIS) on 09/03/24 was reviewed and it indicates that all Facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background clearances have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. Licensee Erika Sotelo was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
LPA inspected inside and outside of single-story home. Licensee rents the home and Licensee states she has liability insurance for a family childcare home (FCCH) that is current. LPA observed a 3A40BC fire extinguisher last serviced on 07/03/2024. Combination carbon Monoxide and smoke detectors is operable. LPA observed a barricaded wall heater in the home. Licensee stated there are no firearms/weapons in the home. Sharp objects, medicines, poisons, and cleaning supplies are inaccessible to the children. Backyard is fenced, left side yard by day care entrance is fenced off and gated. Off limits indoor: two bedrooms and washroom. Off Limit outdoor: gated rear left side of house, storage are in the front carport. Licensee states there is one vaccinated dog in the home.
Children were supervised during the visit and LPA went over substitute options and reminded licensee they could only have 14 children according to her license. Licensee stated she does transport children. LPA reminded Licensee that children are never to be left in parked vehicles and must use appropriate car seats according to the child's age/weight/size.
