The LPAs conducted a tour of the interior and exterior of the home. The off-limits areas within the home include All of the second floor and garage. Outside off-limits areas include the planter area in the back.
Meals, snacks, and drinks will be prepared by the applicant. The home was observed to be clean and orderly, with heating and ventilation systems functional for safety and comfort. Licensee will provide safe toys, play equipment, and materials. The applicant acknowledged and understood the procedure for separating ill children. The home was free from observable defects or conditions that could endanger a child. There is a glass covered fireplace that has a bar lock.
The LPA observed that a fully charged 3A-40- BC fire extinguisher (last serviced 2/10/25), a functioning smoke detector, a carbon monoxide detector and a working telephone were present. The applicant was advised to complete annual maintenance on the fire extinguisher. The applicant was provided with a fire/emergency disaster drill log and advised that drills should be conducted every six months.
Applicant was reminded that smoking is not allowed in the day care. No Baby walkers, bouncers, jumpers, or similar prohibited devices were observed. Hazardous materials, including poisons, detergents, cleaning compounds, and medicines, were stored in locations inaccessible to children, with storage areas for poisons and firearms properly locked. No bodies of water were present on the premises. The applicant has a fenced area for outdoor play; however, The LPAs reminded applicant that in the absence of a fence, direct supervision of children is always required during outdoor play.
The applicant was reminded that if she chooses to transport children, a valid driver’s license is required. Children cannot be left unattended in vehicles, car seats are for transportation only, and adequate booster seats and car seats must be available for safe transport.
