32 | CD denied the claims related to the allegations and stated that no child(ren) sustained any significant injury or that any staff harmed any child(ren). CD believed members of facility management always notified parent(s) of unusual incidents on the same day or by the next day. CD also noted that parents were notified of and received a written report for incident(s) involving injury to their child(ren) and received a phone call for non-injury related incident(s). Based on CD’s knowledge, no staff ever refused to assist a child(ren) with toileting/diapering needs, and CD felt staff were doing a fantastic job in assisting with and meeting the children’s diapering needs.
C3 reported they sustained an injury to the knee, but there was no indication that the injury was caused/afflicted by staff; or staff’s conduct resulted in injury. C3 confirmed that no staff acted mean to them or the children, that staff disciplined children by placing them in timeout, and that teachers helped children when they needed to use the potty. S1-S4 denied involvement in causing injuries, afflicting pain, or harming any children including C1. According to staff, some children arrived at the facility with existing bruise(s), and they had not witnessed other staff harm any child(ren). Staff further expressed that they cared for each child, felt the interaction(s) between staff and children were good, and claimed they had no knowledge of when, where or how C1 sustained the bruise(s) on the leg. Furthermore, staff explained if a child was exhibiting challenging behavior(s), staff addressed those behaviors(s) by placing the child in timeout, and staff or member of management promptly notified parents of incident(s) involving their child(ren). All staff recited the diapering procedure and that parents would provide their children’s diapers but if they ran out, they would use the supply provided by the facility. S1 did advise a parent to provide a specific type of diaper but later advised that it wasn’t a requirement and that the parent could provide their own brand they want used for their child.
Statements provided by P1-P3, P5 and A2 did not report concerns related to the allegations, and parents conveyed their child(ren) did not return home with injuries to which staff could not provide a reasonable explanation, and parents confirmed the facility notified them of incidents via an online application/platform. P4 did report witnessing S3 grab and pull her child’s (C8) left arm to return them to a seated position while C8 abruptly tried to stand up upon seeing P4 approaching, but this statement was not corroborated and S3 provided a varying explanation of what occurred. P4 said every week she saw various sized bruises on her child’s (C9) legs and knees, however; staff did not provide a reasonable explanation of how the bruises were sustained.
