25 | A change of location inspection was conducted today by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Cindy Castro. An application was received to the department on 08/20/2024 for the change of location. The applicant, Jameelah Hanif was previously licensed as a large family childcare home, facility number 483008496. The applicant is currently requesting a license for a capacity of 14 children at her new location. Services will be available Sunday- Saturday 4:00 AM – 3:00 AM. The licensee understands that 24hr consecutive care is prohibited. The residence is a 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom multi-level home. There is currently one adult living in the home. Applicant was reminded that all adults 18 and over living in the home, persons who provide care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5-days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30-days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
The floor and yard plans were verified. The applicant has provided proof of Control of Property. The children will have access to one bedroom (Playroom), hallway bathroom, living room and dining room. The off-limits areas of the home include three bedrooms (2 bedrooms located on second floor and one located on first floor), one bathroom located on second floor, kitchen, backyard and converted garage. The living room has a fireplace and is barricaded by a child safety gate. These areas were made inaccessible by door latches,child safety gates and key locks. Licensee stated that for outdoor play she will utilize the park across the street. LPA reviewed with licensee that outdoor play areas shall be fenced, or outdoor play areas shall be supervised by licensee. The home appears to be clean and orderly at this time and will remain so during childcare hours. There is a working telephone in the home. The sharp knives, cleaning supplies, medicines, will be stored out of the reach of children. Applicant stated that poisons are kept key locked in the storage bin in the backyard. First Aid supplies will be maintained at the facility.
