25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Glenn Ouye met with the licensees to discuss the potential of a capacity increase for their preschool license and the potential for a school age program.
The facility has seven room (one of which is a large classroom called Make Believe Blvd Room). The licensees asked if one of the two staff bathrooms in the hallway can be converted into a preschool bathroom. LPA said that the room can be approved for preschool program use and explained the supervision expectation and regulatory requirements if they are going use the hallway bathroom. The seven classrooms currently have eight toilets and 15 sinks. The hallway bathroom would raise the numbers to 9 toilets and 16 sinks. The licensee also asked about converting a bathroom that has a door of the bathroom opening into the Toddler B classroom and changing it so the door opens to the Preschool 1 classroom. LPA told the licensee that the bathroom serves no function to the infant classroom and is not being used by the infants at all. If the bathroom is converted to having it's door open to the preschool 1 classroom it would be a significant benefit to the preschool program and give the preschool program a potential to increase the preschool capacity.
If the licensee converts the hallway bathroom to a preschool bathroom the capacity can be increased to 135 children (9 toilets). If the facility changes the infant bathroom to open into the preschool bathroom, the maximum capacity can be 146 children which is based on the maximum square footage of the preschool activity area.
The 0utdoor activity area was measured and it supports 122 preschool age children. If the licensee applies for an increase of capacity the facility would need an outdoor rotational waiver. |
