32 | L1 stated that she does not tell parents every little detail involving their child’s behavior that needing correcting during the day, like a child cutting in line or taking a block from a child. L1 stated that it’s typical behavior and what they are learning in group care and doesn’t want parents to feel bad about their child. L1 stated that she always communicates the “big stuff”. S1’s statements were consistent with L1’s, corroborating that the Brightwheel app is used to communicate with parents’ information about naps, if they fall asleep, behavior differences, and general information. S1 stated that during pick up time she’ll let parents know if anything about their child's day was “note-worthy” and if they know about injuries, they always tell the parents. S1 stated that if they can see an injury, they take a photo and share it in the App, sharing that sometimes the parent will respond back in the App, or they will call the facility. On 06/06/24 LPA received 9 screen shots showing examples of communication with parents of 3 different children either currently, or formerly enrolled in care, from L1. The communication platforms shown in the screen shots was a combination of cell phone text messages, Brightwheel messages and Brightwheel Daily feeds. The communication examples were dated between 3/28/24 and 05/23/24.
During the investigation LPA conducted interviews with 5 adults, Adult 1 – Adult 5 (A1-A5) between 06/03/24 and 07/15/24 who were either parents of children currently enrolled or formerly enrolled. LPA received records containing screen shots of communication with Licensee, Ashley Pryor from one adult interviewed. The screen shots appeared to be cell phone text messages. Included in the texts were examples of S1 and L1 providing feedback about the child’s day and a text with a detailed discipline plan for addressing the child’s undesired behavior sent from L1. All adults interviewed gave examples of communication from L1 using either Brightwheel or text messages. Three adults interviewed stated that they don’t/didn’t have any concerns and are/were happy with the care and communication from L1.
Based on interviews conducted and records reviewed, although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove that an alleged violation occurred, therefore the allegation is UNSUBSTANTIATED.
