25 | On 03/18/2026, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Valerie Mireles conducted an unannounced Annual Random Inspection and was met by licensee Traci Butcher. Also present were licensee’s two assistants. Licensee is contracted through Modesto City Schools. Days and hours of operation are Monday-Friday 7:00AM-5:00PM.
This is a single level home and there are no stairs. LPA toured the home inside, outside and a census was taken. LPA reviewed current facility sketch and confirmed that living room, dining room, day care room, hallway bathroom and backyard are used for are used for providing care and are accessible to children. All other rooms are off-limits and made inaccessible by use of doorknob spinners and a child safety gate at the kitchen entrance. Safe toys and play equipment are observed. Licensee has plenty of learning materials, age-appropriate toys, child sized tables, chairs, dramatic play, art, blocks and books. There is one fireplace in the home located in the living room and is made inaccessible by a screen will not be in use during daycare hours. There is a working fire extinguisher, smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector and adequate heating and ventilation for safety and comfort. All firearms and ammunition are stored and locked separately. All poisons are kept in a locked storage area. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medication and other hazardous items are made inaccessible.
Licensee ensures that children in care are supervised at all times and is aware children shall not be left in parked vehicles. The outdoor play area in the backyard is fenced and there are no hazards to children present. The backyard has a covered sand pit, child-sized table, chairs and outdoor toys. There is an above-ground swimming pool in the backyard which is fenced and made inaccessible. The pool gate is self-latching, self-closing and opens away from the swimming pool. Licensee was advised that effective 01/01/2025, all childcare facilities licensed by Community Care Licensing (CCL) by law are required to adhere to AB2866 - The Pool Safety Act. Licensee meets Health & Safety Code 1596.814 safety feature requirements, which are listed in AB2866. Continued to LIC809-C.
