25 | On 12/12/2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Valerie Mireles conducted an unannounced Annual Random Inspection and was met by licensee Shannon Braillard. Also present was Licensee’s assistant. Days and hours of operation are Monday – Friday from 7:00AM-5:00PM.
LPA toured the facility inside, outside and a census was taken where LPA observed nine children in care. This is a two-story home.Capacity as specified on the license is being maintained. Current facility sketch reviewed and Licensee confirmed that the first floor which includes the kitchen, two dining rooms, living room, family room, 2 bedrooms and bathroom are used for providing care and are accessible to children. The upstairs rooms are off-limits and made inaccessible by use of a safety barrier. Safe toys and play equipment are observed; LPA observed age-appropriate toys, games and learning materials.
Licensee states there are no firearms or ammunition on the premises. No poisons were observed during the inspection. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medication and other hazardous items are made inaccessible. There is one fireplace in the home located in the living room and is made inaccessible by a glass door and will not be in use during daycare hours. There is a working fire extinguisher, smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector and adequate heating and ventilation for safety and comfort.
The outdoor play area in the backyard is fenced and there are no hazards to children present. There is a built-in swimming pool in the backyard which is fenced and made inaccessible. The pool gate is self-latching, self-closing and opens away from the swimming pool. There is an above ground jacuzzi in the backyard that has a cover that supports the weight of an adult and is locked. No windows or doors have direct access to the pool area. Licensee was advised that effective 01/01/2025, all childcare facilities licensed by CCL by law will be required to adhere to AB2866 - The Pool Safety Act. According to Health & Safety Code 1596.814, additional safety features will be required, which are listed in AB2866.
