| Toys and equipment appear to be age appropriate. There are a total of 5 toilets and 5 sinks/hand washing fixtures which will accommodate the newly requested capacity of 46 preschool children. There is a changing table in classroom #1 which staff understands that it needs to be sanitized after each use. There are pitchers of water and cup dispensers in each classroom. There are two water dispensers inside the center and one outside for children to have water readily available to them.
The approximate outside square footage for the preschool area is 3,480 which will accommodate the newly requested capacity of 46 Preschool Children. The preschool play area is gated into two sections. LPA observed an age appropriate play structure, bike path, tricycles, and other age appropriate toys. Applicant is using rubber mulch to cushion the fall zones. The play structure has a shade area that covers the whole structure. There is additional shade on the side of the playground next to the water dispenser. LPA reminded Irene to provide adequate supervision at all times.
A fire clearance 60 preschool children was approved & granted by the Modesto Fire Department on 01/12/2022. An Amended Fire clearance will be submitted for a capacity of 46.
This facility plans to provide Incidental Medical Services – IMS. For IMS information, see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. A Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. Irene was reminded that all adults 18 and over responsible for administration or direct supervision of staff, persons who provides care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with Irene and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed Irene of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.
