25 | On 8/2/2023, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Ruby Ocegueda conducted an unannounced Plan of Correction (POC) Inspection. LPA met with Licensee Norma Del Toro to review the POC associated to the deficiency cited on 6/7/2023. The deficiency was related to the side yard that was accessible (verified to be used for care) and had several hazards (see 809-D dated 6/7/2023 for further details). LPA took a census and toured the facility.
LPA inspected the side yard today that has a latched gate. The gate now must be unlatched to access it. Today the play yard was verified to be clean and orderly, and LPA observed that the various debris, gas cans and broken toys were discarded. LPA observed that two gates were placed to separate the play yard from the rest of licensee’s property where additional hazards were observed during the inspection on 6/7/2023.
Today, LPA Ocegueda observed that there was an individual working on renovating an existing bedroom in the side yard area. Due to the construction, there was a large opening on the wall to this bedroom from the play yard. The bedroom had tools and was in the stages of renovation. During an office meeting held on 7/12/2023, Licensee reported that this back bedroom that has door access to and from the side yard would be renovated for future use (pending Department approval). LPA also observed that the anchored wood play structure had chipped paint and rough to the touch, causing a potential for splinter injuries. Licensee verified the observations today.
LPA reviewed proper and increased supervision of children while contracted workers were in the home. Licensee understands that any worker providing home repair services or other related services should have no contact with children. If the children use the same restroom as any contracted worker, licensee should supervise the area directly outside to ensure that no other individual is in the restroom. Today, LPA observed a door knob safety cover and book case blocking the door to the off limit room the contracted worker was working in. Report continued to 809-C |
