On 8/2/2023, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Ruby Ocegueda conducted an unannounced case management inspection. The purpose of the inspection was to inspect a bedroom that licensee had previously identified as off-limits and now is requesting approval for day care use. LPA toured the facility and took a census.

Today, LPA observed that the bedroom adjacent to the hall bathroom (to the left when facing the bathroom) was clean and orderly. The wood floors had a clean area rug and appropriate furniture and toys. The toys were clean and in good condition. LPA observed a doorknob safety cover on a door of the bedroom that lead to a very back bedroom that is currently identified as off limits. Today the room that was inspected was free of hazards and all other bedrooms were observed to be off limits.

Licensee indicated that she intends to put a baby gate at the entry of the door to use this bedroom for napping or use for younger children to play in. LPA reminded licensee that proper supervision should be provided to all children in care now that she will have the living room area and bedroom accessible. LPA reminded licensee that if infants nap in this newly approved room, she would be required to leave the door open in such a way that did not prevent her ability to see or hear the infants per the safe sleep regulations. Licensee stated she understood.

Today, this bedroom was inspected per licensees’ request and was approved for care. An updated facility sketch was obtained. Licensee understands that any other areas of her home currently identified off limits should remain inaccessible and not used for care.

Per Title 22, Division 12, Chapter 3, of the California Code of Regulations, no deficiencies were cited as it pertains to this case management inspection. An exit interview was conducted with licensee Norma Del Toro.
