25 | On 9/6/2023, Licensing Program Analyst (LPAs) Ruby Ocegueda conducted a case management inspection for the purpose of inspecting a newly renovated/converted garage and bathroom that licensee is requesting to use for day care children. LPA met with licensee Elizabeth Rodriguez today. LPA conducted a census and toured the facility.
Today, LPA inspected the newly renovated garage with an attached bathroom. The area has new flooring that was installed throughout and was observed to be clean, safe and did not have any tripping hazards. Currently in the converted garage is recessed lighting, additional wall lighting, a kitchenette, central heat and air and two ceiling fans providing a comfortable temperature for children. Licensee will continue to cook meals in the kitchen. The area has three windows and an exit leading to the back yard. The converted garage is attached to the home and is entered through a hall door next to the off-limit laundry room. The converted garage also has an entrance/exit leading to the accessible back yard. Parents will be able to either drop off/pick up children at the front door or through this exit/entrance.
Today, LPA obtained a copy of “Certificate of Occupancy” indicating that the licensee obtained a building permit, and that the construction was approved by the City of Porterville. Licensee obtained a fire clearance on 8/9/2023 and proof was submitted to the Department on 8/15/2023. Today, licensee did not have an updated sketch. Licensee will provide an updated sketch showing the converted garage labeled as “classroom” and she will label the hall bathroom in the main home as "off limits" as she no longer wishes to use this bathroom for children. Today, Licensee placed a doorknob safety spinner on the main home hallway bathroom to make it inaccessible. Report continued to 809-C
