On 12/09/21 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Aruna Sridharan met with licensee Kerry Rice for a case management inspection. The purpose of today's inspection is for a change of capacity. The licensee has applied for a large family home day-care license. Today's census is 8 preschoolers and 2 infants. All adult individuals subject to criminal background review have obtained a criminal record clearance and are cleared through the department. Licensee stated there are no new residents in the home since licensure. Fire clearance has been approved by the Sonora Fire Department on 08/23/2021.

During today's inspection, LPA conducted a virtual tour of all areas of the home accessible to children in care with the Licensee. The facility is a two story home with play area in the front and back completely fenced. The daycare is operated in the living and dining area. Licensee stated that she wanted the bedroom left side of the bathroom changed from onlimits to off-limits. Off-limit areas are: entire downstairs, bedroom left to bathroom, backyard cottage, and garage. Licensee acknowledged that children may never enter these off-limit areas. During today's inspection LPA discussed large family child care home capacity limitations with licensee. Licensee understands children must have 100% supervision in unfenced areas. LPA advised licensee that baby walkers, bouncers, jumpers, and similar items are not allowed in Family Child Care Homes.

LPA discussed the infant sleep regulations with licensee. LPA discussed the requirement to check and log infant napping every 15 minutes for infants 24 months and under. In addition LPA discussed the infant sleep plan. LPA discussed the requirement for all infants 12 months and under to have a completed copy of LIC 9227 in the child's file. LPA provided a copy of LIC 9227 for licensee during today's inspection.

Effective today 12/09/2021, Licensee is approved for a large family child care license to serve 12 children (when there is an assistant present) with no more than 4 infants OR capacity of 14 children when, 1 child is enrolled in Transitional kindergarten or above and 1 child at least age 6 with a maximum of 3 infants. Infants are children under the age of 2 years old. In absence of an assistant the capacity will be of small family child care capacity.
