On December 18, 2024 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Giovani Gonzalez conducted an unannounced Required - 3 year inspection at the above-mentioned Child Care Center (CCC). LPA met with Site Supervisor Rebecca Caldwell and informed them the purpose of the inspection. At the time od the inspection 13 children and 3 staff were present.

LPA in the company of the site supervisor toured the interior and exterior of the CCC. LPA observed the interior of the CCC to have sufficient space and ventilation for children in care. LPA observed the interior to have plenty of age appropriate children's equipment in good condition and to be free of hazards. LPA observed required posting to be in a prominent area in the classroom. LPA observed a office area of the classroom to be off limits however, the area is still accessible to children. Further LPA observed art closet to be off limits but still accessible as well. LPA advised site supervisor it would be better for the areas to be made inaccessible to prevent children from entering the off limits areas. LPA notes, the off limit areas were free of hazards. LPA observed sufficient restrooms for children and observed them to be clean and free of hazards. LPA observed the indoor area to have a fire alarm and carbon monoxide detector. Site supervisor stated both have been tested within the last year to ensure they are functioning.

LPA observed the outdoor play yard to have sufficient space for children’s activities and to have plenty of space as well. Site Supervisor informed LPAs the CCC provides filtered water in cups for children. LPA observed the outdoor area to be completely enclosed and exit/entry ways to be secured. LPAs observed age-appropriate toys and equipment throughout the outdoor area. LPA reminded site supervisor it is their responsibility to ensure toys and equipment are in good condition. LPA observed a play structure and observed the fall zones to have sufficient cushioning. LPA observed a storage shed in the outdoor area which has the ability to be locked. LPA reminded site supervisor to ensure storage containers containing hazardous materials must be secured when children are outside.

Site supervisor was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test.
