25 | On 9/6/23, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Susana Martinez made an unannounced visit for the purpose of conducting a Case Management incident inspection. LPA met with director Sarah Hutson to discuss an incident that was self-reported to Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD) office by phone on 6/15/23. LPA toured the area/classroom where the incident occurred and interviewed Director.
On 6/14/23 an incident occurred at the center at or around 5:05 pm during pick up. A child (C1) was in the infant room when C1's parent arrived for pick up. C1's parent could not locate C1 outside. Parent asked staff members where C1 was. Staff members thought C1 was with a teacher outside, C1's parent did not find the child outside. C1 was found inside with another teacher. C1 returned to day care the next day.
LPA interviewed the director who stated that C1 followed a teacher into the room. The child was in the presence of two teachers inside the classroom. The child was not left unattended. Director states the child returned to the center the following day.
The center conducted it's own internal investigation of the incident and asked teachers to write a statement of the incident. Director provided a copy of the teachers written statements to LPA. Based on the teachers statements, child was not left unattended for more than a couple seconds. The child was found without harm and found to be in a happy state.
Given the incident was observed by staff who took appropriate action by keeping track of the child and having two teachers present with the child, no deficiencies are being issued as a result of this incident. |
