25 | On May 20, 2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Lauren Scott met with Licensee, Ramona Vazquez for the purpose of an unannounced annual inspection. There were six children present at the time of inspection. Licensee's operating hours are Monday through Friday 23 hours/ day, currently working from 4:30am-5:00pm. LPA verified the annual fees are current.
Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
A health and safety inspection was conducted in all areas accessible to children. Off-limits areas include the laundry room and backyard. Off limit areas are being made inaccessible by closed locked doors and baby gates. LPA observed the required postings and a working phone. LPA observed a current roster and documentation that a fire drill is conducted at least once every six months. 2A10BC fire extinguisher meets regulations. LPA observed smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and verified they were both functional. LPA toured the kitchen area and verified knives and cleaners were inaccessible to children in care.
Licensee stated there are no weapons in the home. LPA observed living room area with age appropriate toys for children. LPA observed a restroom and verified that hazardous and toxic items were inaccessible to children in care. Backyard is still off limits. LPA observed an above ground pool being installed. Licensee stated she was going to take it down and would contact LPA once it was removed. Until then, backyard will remain off limits.
