25 | Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Erwin Tjhia and Deborah Khashe met with Applicant, Najia Karim for the purpose of a prelicensing evaluation. Applicant's tentative hours are 24 hours every day.
All individuals subject to criminal background review have obtained a criminal record clearance. Applicant was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
The applicant provided proof of control of property.
A health and safety inspection was conducted inside and out. The two story home has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The off-limits area in the home are the Entire upstairs, garage, backyard, and all bedrooms. Outdoor play area was toured. LPA toured the bedrooms and verified toxic and hazardous items were inaccessible to children in care. Off-limits areas will remain inaccessible to children by doorknob covers, baby gates, and baby latches.
Functioning smoke and carbon monoxide detectors were observed on the second floor. LPA observed cleaners stored in laundry on a shelf inaccessible to children in care. The electric fireplace is screened. LPA discussed supervision with Licensee regarding the use of the heater while children are in care. 2A10BC fire extinguisher and first aid kit were observed in the kitchen. Applicant stated there are no weapons in the home.
